I made clothing out of yarn!
It’s really one of those magical things. Not only in the fact that it all stays together, but mostly because I actually made it. And followed a pattern. And finished it. And I want to keep going.
I made the Knot Ugly Shrug from the Happy Hooker patterns. I tweaked it a little. I’d of course do a few things differently if I did it again. I didn’t anticipate it being particularly wearable when I started, so I just grabbed some random yarn I had on hand. I’m actually pretty impressed with how it turned out. Especially the result of the finished edges. It’s amazing how much of a difference that made.
I started it at craft night July 15th. I worked on it a lot during the heat wave last weekend, when my main goal was staying as still as possible. I ran out of yarn on Sunday and had to get more on Monday. I then finished it yesterday afternoon. Because I’m too lazy to take a picture then turn on the other computer to upload, etc, I’ll just link to a picture of another person who did the same project for anyone who’s curious about what it looks like. Maybe someday I’ll be less lazy.
I really love crocheting. I’m now keen to make a shawl that has lots of double-triple crochet stitches in a shell pattern. So far, I haven’t identified a yarn that actually looks good with it though. In the mean-time, I jumped on the library card bandwagon. After many months I finally activated my library card. A co-worker pointed out I could borrow crochet books. Duh. Well, I’ve had fun on the website. I now have 24 holds.
Sadly, my branch had zero crochet books available on-site. Quite a few knitting books though. Stupid evil knitting.
