The homecoming

The new kitty arrived home yesterday. I went to the shelter to fill out the paperwork and pay the adoption fees. I then drove over to the foster parents’ house (in the snow) to pick him up. He did not like the sight of that carrier I brought in. He was too smart for us too. I could tell foster mom was really sorry to see him go. She gave me her email and hopes to hear about him.

He settled down pretty well once we were in the car driving. I brought him inside near the food dishes and litter and opened the door. He nervously entered his new surroundings.

He decided that under the couch was a good place to hide and survey the area. I decided to mostly give him some space. About 15 minutes later, I filmed him emerging from under the couch.

He has since become much more comfortable in his surroundings. There will be a bit of acclimation time for us both. Right now he really wants to be touching me, preferably as close to my face as possible. We’re working on that. When he isn’t sleeping on me, he’s meowing in the kitchen. He’s got a good appetite. He scarfs down the food. He clearly thinks I’m starving him, despite the fact that I know I’m feeding him what he was getting before. He needs to learn he’s no longer an outdoor tomcat. He did sleep by my feet all night, which was nice. I was worried he’d want to sleep on my face.

I can’t decide if he’s keeping the name Kipper. Tigger is also in the running because of the similarities. Other suggestions are welcome.

Kitty

I’m adopting a kitty tomorrow. I met him yesterday and he’s a total lap whore. I’d like to preserve the description for all time though, so here it is…

Hi I’m Kipper, one of the coolest cats around. Well, at least that’s what everyone who meets me says. I’m currently being loved in a foster home and NOT at the shelter.

I’m a very handsome orange and white tabby with lovely light blue eyes. Like most orange male tabbies, I’m very mellow and love, love, love being on a warm lap. I’ll look adoringly into your eyes and put my paw softly on your face to let you know how much I love you. I simply adore people. Even at a busy loud party, I’ll come out and say hello and sit on a few laps. I’m really pretty extraordinary. I really like dogs and am good with other cats.

I had a hard life until my foster mom took me in. I was a stray cat for two years where I had to fend for myself in the cold outdoors. My ears are a little tattered from having to protect myself. Thankfully someone fed me and maybe when I was a kitten someone loved me and schooled me because I’m so affectionate and so well behaved. I always use the litter box, I know not to get on counters, I come when I’m called and I don’t scratch furniture. My foster mom thinks I’d be best in a house with older kids or no kids at all because sometimes I get so excited about being pet I give love bites.

Hurry and call about me. My foster mom says I’m a real catch who will fill a house with love and happiness.
